Dental Care Providing clinic-based veterinary services for your beloved pets.

North Hollywood Veterinary Dentistry

Sweet Home Veterinary Hospital encourages pet parents to attend to their animal’s dental needs. Not only is dental care an important part of pet care to remove harmful plaque buildup and keep gum disease at bay, but it can also prevent health conditions like heart or liver disease. Unfortunately, even the most responsible, well-meaning pet parents can neglect their animal’s teeth and gums, only to lead to unpleasant and painful complications down the line. Whether your pet needs a dental cleaning, filing, or tooth extraction, we can help. If you want your pet to thrive, then bring them to Sweet Home Veterinary Hospital for pet dental care in North Hollywood.

Dental Exams & Preventative Maintenance

Our veterinary professionals recommend annual dental care, which can be done at their routine wellness checkups. These yearly evaluations can help detect early symptoms of gum inflammation, tartar buildup, and tooth decay that require veterinary intervention. Other common dental issues in dogs and cats include abscesses, infected teeth, palate defects, gum inflammation, mouth cysts, and jaw fractures. Depending on their unique situation, we will create an individualized plan that may involve medications or surgery to restore their oral health.

Your pet’s dental evaluation consists of:

  • A thorough oral examination
  • Taking X-rays (usually under sedation) of their teeth and jaws
  • An anesthetized dental cleaning to remove plaque and tartar from above and below the gumline
  • Teeth polishing

High-Quality Dental Care for Your Pets

Pets typically can go home the same day as their anesthetic dental cleaning after they wake up from their sedation. They may be slightly groggy for a few hours after, and we recommend feeding them soft food for the days following their treatment. We will provide thorough aftercare instructions to pet parents, so you know what to do and any symptoms to be aware of in the days following their cleaning.
